The End of a Decade – by Amy Yeung in Guatemala

As I was packing for my trip to Guatemala, I realized that my adventures of moving and traveling all began exactly 10 years ago.  In September of 2001, I moved to Kingston, Ontario to continue my post secondary education.  After graduation in 2003, I moved to Toronto to begin my career and from there, I became a corporate event planner.  In 2007, I decided that I wanted to discover Asia, so with two suitcases and a bunch of job interviews, I moved to Hong Kong.  After two years of working and traveling throughout Southeast Asia, I decided to move back to Vancouver with the intention of learning more about my true passion –  coffee.

After living in six cities and moving 17 times, some may call me a bit of a nomad, but I call it exciting.  As I approach the last four months of my 20’s, Ethical Bean has given me the opportunity to discover and learn about the culture and community of Guatemala, working with their chosen charity – Project Somos.

Now armed with a suitcase, a backpack and my Lonely Planet Spanish phrasebook, I invite you to join me as my adventures continue in Tecpán, Guatemala, where I will be residing for the next 4 months.
