We think Shakespeare is wrong. It’s coffee – not music – that’s the food of love. Coffee marries beautifully with food, whether it’s as an accompaniment or an ingredient. Our ingenious band of Ethical Bean employees have come up with some delicious recipes that go hand-in-hand with a great cup of coffee. We’ll share them with you over the month of February.
We’d love it if you shared your recipes too! Our only requirements are that your recipes either make something that accompanies coffee (like cake or pastries) or contain coffee as an ingredient. If it uses Fairtrade and organic ingredients too, all the better!
All recipes you send in will be entered into 2 random draws this month for the chance to win some freshly roasted Ethical Bean coffee.

1 cup butter, softened
1½ cups Fairtrade organic dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons Fairtrade vanilla
2 teaspoons water
2 cups organic flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Fairtrade and organic cinnamon
¼ teaspoon Fairtrade and organic ground cloves
½ teaspoon allspice
2 cups rolled organic oats
1-2 cups Fairtrade and organic raisins
Preheat oven to 350°F
Cream butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and water and beat until smooth.
Sift dry ingredients together. Add to the butter mixture and mix well. Fold in oats and raisins.
Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving enough space for the cookies to spread out.
Bake for 8-10 min. Enjoy!
