Where did the summer go? It seems to have flown past in a kaleidoscope of sun and fun. But have no fear, there are plenty more great events, tournaments and festivals for you to join us at in the month of August.

Saturday, August 1st
The Powell Street FestivalThe Powell Street Festival Society – The Powell Street Festival Society is dedicated to cultivating and celebrating Japanese Canadian arts and culture! Our main focus is the production of the Powell Street Festival (PSF), now in its 39th year. It is the largest event of its kind in Canada and the longest running festival in Metro Vancouver. The PSF includes musical performances, door prizes (including an Ethical Bean Coffee giftpack), traditional dance, an amateur sumo wrestling competition, martial arts demonstrations, bonsai and ikebana exhibits, lots of Japanese food… and more! Monday – Friday, August 10th – 14th
Writing and Book Camp Vancouver Public Library – Mission: A free place for everyone to discover, create, and share ideas and information. This unique day camp lets youth with a passion for reading and writing connect with well-known authors and illustrators. Each day features a new keynote speaker from the literary world. Campers also experience a variety of different creative workshops. Saturday, August 15th
Benefits of Bocce TournamentDown Syndrome Research Foundation – The mission of the Down Syndrome Research Foundation is to empower individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential throughout life by pioneering and providing educational programs and services, grounded in foundational research. Working with researchers, professionals and families, we are a bridge between research and practice not only on the Lower Mainland but in British Columbia and Canada as well. We offer a wide variety of educational opportunities to children and young adults with Down syndrome, including ground-breaking reading and communications programs, speech therapy, music in motion, summer school and transitions programs which prepare our students to live full and fulfilling lives. Wednesday, August 19th
2015 KidSafe Golf Tournament
The KidSafe Project Society – KidSafe works to provide nurturing safe havens for vulnerable inner-city children, when schools are traditionally closed. Ethical Bean Coffee will be served at the 10th anniversary Wood Gundy KidSafe Golf Tournament, the largest fundraising event of the year. A giftpack of Ethical Bean Coffee will also be featured in the popular silent auction. Each year, the Golf Tournament is a sold-out success and raised over $116,000 in 2014 for school break programs. They hope this year will be the most successful yet! Register for the golf tournament, or donate to the program on their website.
